Currently shelters leave people with no place to go during the day, making it difficult for providers to locate them, let alone engage them in services. The "Gathering Place" acts as a resource center for homeless individuals where providers come to them. Each week representatives from various agencies are at the "Gathering Place" to provide onsite assessments of needs for healthcare, mental health and substance abuse services, assistance completing applications for housing, entitlements, insurance and entry to supported employment programs . The ultimate goal is to help people obtain the skills, resources and services they need to be able to obtain and maintain housing.
